New Atlantis Records expands its cassette series with Guided Motion, the first document of electroacoustic composition from New York bassist Johnny DeBlase. Best known for his work with avant-rock guitar trios Many Arms and Zevious, Guided Motion is something else entirely--- a sound collage of cavernous, ethereal drones and granulated noise, based on automated streams of processed bass improvisation. Informed by a diverse array of musical paradigms, from electronic music pioneers Iannis Xenakis, Curtis Roads, Merzbow, Fennesz, and Lustmord, to traditional Tibetan Buddhist ceremonial music, Guided Motion is a dark meditation on the hidden complexities of our everyday world.

In addition to his work with Many Arms and Zevious, Johnny is also a member of Needle Driver (Brandon Seabrook, Allison Miller); Deveykus (Dan Blacksberg, Nick Millevoi, Yoshi Fruchter, Eli Litwin); Prefix Moniker (Jason Carr); and Overishins (Mick Barr, Chuck Bettis, Mike Pride), to name just a few ongoing concerns. He has had chamber compositions commissioned by the Queens Council for the Arts and Philadlephia-based guitar+trombone duo Archer Spade. Johnny has toured the US and Canada extensively, and has had prior albums released via Tzadik, Cuneiform Records, Engine-ESP, Majmua Music, and Abandon Ship Records.
